Emissions: about 178 kg CO₂ per year for the EV on Ontario's grid vs. 3,519 kg for the gasoline car. Set your charger's schedule to start at 11 p.m. to capture ULO pricing. Use the price plan comparison to check whether ULO suits the rest of your household, and read our home charging guide.

Assumptions and method

Energy = distance × efficiency × 1.10 for charging losses. Home charging cost = kWh × (commodity price + delivery adder) × 1.13 HST. ULO uses 3.7¢, TOU off-peak 9.1¢, Tiered 13.2¢ (most EV households exceed the tier threshold). The Ontario Electricity Rebate would lower these further.

Excludes charger purchase and installation (typically $1,500–$3,000 for Level 2), insurance, maintenance (usually lower for EVs) and depreciation.
