How we review content
Our mission
Energy Efficiency Ontario exists to give Ontarians clear, accurate and independent information about using less energy and paying less for it. We believe lower prices, more efficient homes, real choice in how we heat and power our homes, and greater energy independence are good for households and for the province.
What we publish
- 106+ guides and updates covering heating and cooling, solar and storage, insulation, water heating, appliances, EVs, bills and consumer protection.
- Current Ontario electricity prices and plain-language explanations of how they work.
- A directory of rebates and programs, checked against official sources.
- Free calculators that use Ontario prices and show every assumption.
Who we are
Our editorial team brings together experience in residential energy efficiency, HVAC, solar, building science and consumer information. We write for homeowners and tenants first — not for manufacturers, installers or utilities.
What we are not
We are not a government website, utility or rebate administrator, and we are not affiliated with the Government of Ontario, the IESO or Save on Energy, the Ontario Energy Board or Enbridge Gas. We can't approve rebates, change your price plan or access your account. Our official resources page tells you who can.
How we're funded
The site is free to use. We earn referral fees when homeowners choose to be connected with independent contractors through our heating and cooling or solar pages. That never affects what we write. Read our full disclosure.
