An independent public-information resource for Ontario homeowners. About us

Accessibility statement

Everyone in Ontario should be able to understand and act on information about their home's energy use. We design this site to be usable by as many people as possible.

Effective November 2, 2026

1. Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, consistent with the goals of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards.

2. What we do

  • Semantic headings, landmarks and a “skip to main content” link on every page.
  • Full keyboard operation of navigation, forms and calculators, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text and interface colours chosen for sufficient contrast; information is never conveyed by colour alone.
  • Form fields with visible labels, clear error messages announced to screen readers, and progress shown in multi-step forms.
  • Responsive layouts that work at 200% zoom and on small screens.
  • Plain-language writing, with technical terms explained in our glossary.
  • Print-friendly article pages.

3. Known limitations

Some interactive charts in our calculators are visual summaries of results that are also provided as text. Links to third-party websites, including government and utility sites, lead to content we do not control. If you find any barrier, please tell us.

4. Alternate formats and feedback

If you need any page in an alternate format, or have trouble using any part of the site, contact us at info@energyefficiencyontario.ca or through our contact form. We will acknowledge your message within two business days and work with you to provide the information in a format that meets your needs.
